Jardinière Net Curtains and Voiles

Jardinières are net curtains with an arched edge on the bottom of the curtain. They are very similar to nets and the only real difference is this arch on the bottom as opposed to a flat bottom edge seen on net curtains. Net curtains tend to have a flat weighted lower edge or a scalloped edge, where as jardinieres usually have an arch with a scalloped edge.

Jarinieres are usually available with the same design also available in a net curtain or a voile net curtain. This means

that if for example you have a bay window you could have a jardiniere in the centre with matching nets on either side, or you could have nets throughout your home and simply may want slightly more light though a certain window so may opt for an jardiniere instead of a net curtain in a particular window, it is al personal preference however.

With regards to sizing up jardinieres, they do differ slightly as they come in standard sizes and are prepacked. The standard drops of the jardinieres do match the standard drops of net curtains but the maximum drop height tends to be 72" or 183cm. Please also note that the drop on Jardinieres is always measured from the edges as this is the longest part on the curtain.

The widths of jardinires are also standard widths of either 100"/254cm, 150"/381cm, 200"/508cm or in some designs 250"/635cm. The easiest way to work out which width jardinere you require is to measure the width of your window and double it, then pick the closest available size. That way you will have roughly double fulless in your curtain (the correct amount of gather).

The standard heading on jardenieres is a slot top heading, which means they are ready to hang on net curtain wire or a net rod such as a tension rod. This type of heading is also standard with net curtains. If you require heading tape sewn in either a net curtain or jardiniere we can arrange this for a small charge to cover the cost of manual labour involved.

Here at Express Nets we have roughly 12 different styles of Jardinieres with approximately 8 designs available that have matching net curtains in the same design. There are four voile jardinieres that are all beautiful heavily embroidered designs and are all of fantastic quality. As voile is a fabric which tends to fray, all the edges on jardinieres are sewn over and neatened as standard to ensure they last longer. The voile jardinieres do tend to be slightly more in price but are of the best quality jardinieres on the market.

Drops are all standard to match net curtains but are not always available in every size (dependant on designs).
